Are you ready to start another flooring project?
Don't limit yourself. There are many ways to express yourself with flooring. Don't be afraid to experiment. You can easily give your floors a designer touch by using simple installation techniques.
Border It: If you want a designer look without high prices, try adding a border. If 
you are buying carpet, ask your flooring dealer or installer to add a one to two foot border of another color or pattern around the perimeter of the room. You can also use other floorings for your border, such as, ceramic, laminate or wood. It will cost you a bit more for extra labor, but you will have a truly unique and designer floor. Area Rugs can also be used to give a bordered appearance to any floor.

Give it the 45 Degree: When installing hard surface flooring, such as, Ceramic, Laminate or Hardwood, 
you can have it installed at a 45 degree angle as opposed to a straight (and boring) installation. You will be surprised at the elegant appearance a floor can have by simply turning it on an angle.

Resize It: Choose a Ceramic flooring that comes in various sizes and create your own unique pattern.
Using tiles of differing size allows you freedom to be creative and most installers can suggest various patterns that will add a decorator's touch to an otherwise basic floor. You can also find pattern suggestions on the Dal Tile web site, for tiles of differing sizes. See www.daldecor.com
Colorize It: You might also consider using more than one color when intalling Ceramic or Vinyl Tiles. You can alternate colors for a checkerboard effect, or mix and match two or more colors as a remedy for boring or bland flooring. Use colors to add a designer effect or spell a word on your floor. Just use your imagination.

Feature It: We often have customers request a "Flooring Feature" at the entrance to a room or home or
at the center of a room. This is usually a square or round feature point on the floor. It can be a simple color change or a complex mosaic design. A word of welcome or a Family Crest. If you can imagine it, an expert installer can manufacture it. This technique is most often used in hard surface flooring (Ceramic, VCT or Linoleum).

You can make any flooring uniquely yours by using any combination of these techniques. You will also take your floor from boring to beautiful and all for the cost of some extra labor. This is the essence of Home Decor; to take something average and make it more appealing, unique and personal.
